Brooke Longville
Brooke graduated from Murdoch University with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Biomedical Science and Molecular Biology, with First Class Honours in Biomedical Science. Her honours project developed a strong foundation of molecular biology skills and encouraged her enthusiasm for complex problem solving and research.
Brooke has recently embarked on a PhD investigating the genetic epidemiology of age-related macular degeneration. This is a collaborative project between the Western Australian Institute for Medical Research (WAIMR) and the Lions Eye Institute (LEI). Her role involves the coordination of a clinical study at the LEI to collect prospective data, and the analysis of both prospective and retrospective data. Furthermore, this data will be integrated into the WA Genetic Epidemiology Resource (WAGER) project and thus become part of a meta-data set for meta-analysis.
Brooke's PhD supervisors are Professor Lyle Palmer (Head of Laboratory for Genetic Epidemiology, WAIMR), Professor Piroska Rakoczy (Director of Research, LEI) and Dr Wayne Greene (Molecular Genetics, Murdoch University).
